Fida Shehadeh is a council member in the Lod Municipality since 2018. Fida holds an MA in urban planning from the Ben Gurion University in the Negev.

Fida believes that the land and housing policy is a prime arena from which to fight the inequality of Israeli Palestinian citizens in Lod. Fida is a founding member of Hashpa’ah, a movement of young adults in Lod intended to build and develop leadership for projects which advance young men and women in the city.

For many years Fida has worked as a leader of young adults in Lod and country wide in a variety of areas, in particular for raising awareness of gender equality as part of the Women Against Violence NGO. Shehadeh is one of the founders of the ‘Hutwa Group’, a movement which organized and led the fight against housing demolitions and for raising awareness of housing issues.

Fida was also active in the ‘Praver Shall Not Pass’ campaign against the Praver Law on the Bedouin lands in the Negev.

She believes that genuine change requires engagement on all sides if the issues: women, workers, students, homemakers and academics regardless of ethnicity, religion, age or gender.
